Young carers take on huge amounts of responsibility caring for family members. They miss school, struggle to make friends, often feel stressed and while most children look forward to the summer holidays, young carers often feel lonely during the break. Many spend more time caring for a family member during this time and miss the chance to get out and socialise with friends.
Emily cares for her Mum, who has a number of physical conditions and struggles with her mental health. When Emily heard about the activities and days out that Making Space Cheshire East Carers Hub had planned for young carers over the summer holidays, she was so excited to join in.
“I never get to go out over the summer. I always sit in because I need to be near my Mum and she can’t take me places.” Emily is really looking forward joining picnics in the park and going on fun days out. She can’t wait to make new friends that understand her struggles.
Please donate today to support young carers. Your donation will help us provide creative and fun activity groups and independent sessions for children who are unable to leave the house and their caring responsibilities. Items like arts and crafts can be provided for young carers to do in their own time in their own homes. The groups and independent sessions ensure young carers get a well-earned break from their caring responsibilities and provides them with something fun to do to take their mind off their struggles. You can make a big difference to their young lives. Thank you.
