Last year, we hiked the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in 10 and a half hours to raise funds for Making Space but we've decided to take on an even bigger challenge this year.
To mark Making Space's 40th anniversary and join in with the #40for40 weekend celebrations, we are going to trek the length of Hadrian's Wall, walking over 40km per day, from 23rd September-25th September. We will be walking for around 12 hours per day for each of the 3 days.
Our 5 strong team of Phil Orton, Francis Jones, Chris Mizzi, Adam Grimes and Tom Cruse all work at Making Space head office and want to raise vital funds for the charity. We are looking forward to the challenge but know it will a tough test.
We are taking on this challenge because we understand that so many people's mental health has suffered since the pandemic. We know that spending time outdoors can improve our mental health. So, we want to raise money for garden projects, walking groups and activity groups that Making Space deliver for people with mental health conditions, dementia and carers.
Please sponsor us today.
Your money could provide a day out walking in the countryside for an unpaid carer, a walking group for someone struggling with their mental health to chat to someone or a garden project for someone living with dementia to enjoy.

As one hiker said to us ‘you’re doing it in 3 days, you’re crazy!’.
We had a tough time but I think fair to say a great experience, lots of laughs and a real boost to our mental wellbeing. Which was the purpose of our walk, to raise money for others to experience the benefits of the outdoors.
