Jake's Triathlon Challenge

I'm Jake and my Mum, Joanne, is Senior Support Worker at Making Space service, Kingshill Residential Home. 

I have fundraised for Kingshill in the past because I see the amazing work they do through my Mum and I have decided I want to take on my biggest challenge yet for Kingshill this year.   

On Sunday 7th June, I'll be taking on the toughest triathlon that I have ever attempted. 

I raised vital funds last year by doing a 400m swim, 20km bike and 5km run but this time I am at least doubling the distance for all three disciplines. I am taking on a 1500m sea swim, 40km bike and 10km run. I am doing to complete the triathlon in 3 and a half hours. 

I am doing this because I want to raise as much money as possible to help the people my Mum and her colleagues support at Kingshill. Kingshill is a recovery and rehabilitation residential service in Standish, Wigan. They offer accommodation for people with enduring mental health conditions and they work with them to help gain independence and live fulfilling lives. I'm proud to know my Mum works to help people everyday and I'm training really hard to ensure I complete the challenge. One of training sessions includes a 60km bike ride in hot weather.

The Tailor-Making Fund can pay for travel passes or tickets, training in daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning and managing a household, workshops on budgeting and financial planning and training on CV writing and interview skills.
